The Hatters forced the Blues into a number of great blocks, while seen Scott Griffiths was denied a wonder goal by the head of team-mate Mark Cullen and Jonathan Smith’s last gasp-volley flashed just wide.

Gray said: “I think the boys are a bit frustrated as well because I think we could have got the win, but obviously we started quite well and then died a little bit, but came back to life in the second half. But they scored a good goal as well and there wasn’t a lot we could do about it, so I think we still could have got the win, but we’ll take a point.

“I just think it’s the fact that we know how good we are and we know we can score goals and we know how well we can defend. And I think we are in the situation now where people are getting frustrated because we know what we are capable of and we know that we can grind out wins.

“But I think the goal came at the wrong time and we just couldn’t get the real break that we needed today. But we are not losing so we’ve got to take the positives.

“I think we just needed that little bit of luck today and we didn’t get it. On another day we’d come out of here 3-1 up and winning, it’s just football and I think we’ll be all right and we’ve still got a long way to go yet and as long as we keep the same consistency throughout Christmas we’ll start catching the people in front of us.”
