His hat-trick in Saturday’s rout of Hereford moved him two goals clear at the top of the Conference scoring charts with 22 for the season.

He said: “Like I’ve always said I want to try and score in every game and help the team, so as long as I’m doing that or assisting it doesn’t really matter, we need to win this league and get out of this league and that’s what everyone wants, it doesn’t matter who scores.

“It could be Macca (Steve McNulty) the centre-half, it doesn’t matter as long as we win the game.

“Obviously it’s nice for me to score the goals and get the win because people look at it and see that I’ve won the game, but it’s not that at all it’s the whole team that’s providing me with the goals, giving me the chances and I’m just trying to do my job.”

But the Hatters hotshot admitted he would love to net the golden boot award come the end of the season.

He added: “Always (interested) because I’m up there to get it so it’s obviously going to be in the back of my mind, but we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

“If we win the league and I don’t win the golden boot I don’t really care to be honest! We’ve done the main thing and everything else that comes after that is a bonus.”
