Target man Paul Benson, last season’s top scorer Andre Gray and wild card substitute Alex Wall all got on the scoresheet as the Kenilworth Road faithful were treated to a thrilling fightback.

And despite some concern at Town’s early goalscoring form, Gray was always confident Luton’s strikeforce would click.

He said: “People started to panic before because we weren’t conceding, but we weren’t scoring.

“It’s turned now, we’re getting the goals everyone’s chipping in, Cully’s (Mark Cullen) scored four now, Gutts (Luke Guttridge) has scored five, I’ve scored two, Benno’s scored two, Alex has got off the mark now.

“It was always going to come. I think the calibre of the strikers we’ve got here there’s always going to be that little bit of pressure.

“As a striker everyone goes through droughts and everyone goes through patches where you’re not going to score, even the best in the world do.

“It’s brilliant confidence for everybody and hopefully now we can kick on and climb up the table even more.

“Everyone is getting on the scoresheet so hopefully we will start flying now.”

Fit-again striker Wall was thrilled to have earned his side all three points with a brilliant 25-yard strike seven minutes from time after coming on as a sub.

He said: “At the start of the season no strikers really found the net. Myself, I was injured, but we’re starting to find our feet now and hopefully we can push on up the league.

“Personally I believe in myself and what I can do, so I’m happy with that, but most important is the team getting the three points.”

Gray though was disappointed that the Hatters had shipped three goals in the first half, but delighted by the way they battled back.

“I think it was more frustrating than anything because personally I felt we weren’t threatened,” he said.

“I think it was just maybe individual errors or just a lack of sharpness, I’m not sure.

“It’s going to happen at times and fortunately for them they got three goals and we went 3-1 down.

“But to get back from 3-1 and win it I think it’s amazing and especially to get it back to 3-3 in the first half, we put our foot in the door and kicked on.”

And having spent long spells of this season on the bench, Gray was far happier having starred from the start.

He added: “I was frustrated last week and I think as a football you’re going to be. If you’re not frustrated then there’s no point in you playing like I’ve probably said before.

“Hopefully I’ve taken my chance again now and hopefully I can kick on and keep scoring.”
