Frustrated Lawless admits that Welling were better when it came to the ‘crunch’
Disappointed returning Town midfielder Alex Lawless couldn’t hide his frustration as Luton crashed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat at Skrill Premier rivals Welling United on Saturday, writes Mark Wood.
Wings keeper Lee Butcher pulled off a string of fine saves, include one from Lawless, to thwart the Hatters.
The 28-year-old said: “I think we would aim to be coming here and winning, and then looking forward to the second round draw, so it’s disappointing.
“We’ve had a few chances there and first half they were better than us. When it came to the crunch they were better than us.”
