The 23-year-old has skippered his country in the past, but got to lead his team out at the King Abdullah Stadium and played 90 minutes during the 1-0 win.

He said: “It’s always an honour to wear the England shirt, but it makes it more special to put the armband on.

“It’s the first time I’ve done it from the start so I was really pleased.”

Striker Andre Gray was also picked and played the 90 minutes as Luke Berry’s goal proved enough.

On the match, Franks continued: “It was a proper tough pitch, bobbly and we couldn’t really get it under control.

“I thought we played the conditions quite well.

“We limited their chances and took ours so it was pretty good.

“They had a few good players, I didn’t really know what to expect from them, but they were probably one of the better teams we’ved played.

“You couldn’t really judge the bounce of the ball at times and they caused us a few problems, but we dealt with it well.”

The trip to Amman also saw Franks and his team-mates visit Jordanian and Syrian refugees as he continued: “It’s been a good experience, seeing the refugee kids was good too.

“They were in a good mood, seemed happy to see us and there were some decent players there, so it was a good day.

The match could be Franks’ last taste of England C action as there is every chance he will be in League Two with Luton next season.

He might have a swansong when the Three Lions travel to Slovakia for an International Challenge Trophy tie in May, but Franks said: “The only thing I’m focusing on at the moment is getting Luton up in the league, that’s my priority.

“I’ll see what happens in the summer, maybe have one last go at England C before going back up into the league.

“I think it’s more of a settled squad now.

“Most of the boys have been in it before, so it helps knowing everyone and we’ve got a good side here.”
