The 23-year-old will no longer be eligible to represent his country next season with Town a Football League club once more.

Although a blow not to pull on the Three Lions jersey any more, Franks confirmed his first goal had always been becoming a Football League player once more.

He said: “I think that’s the last time I can play for England as well, so I wanted to have one last trip with them and I’m glad I’ve gone.

“I’ve been fortunate to have been to some good places and had some good experiences, but the main goal is to get in the Football League and I wouldn’t swap that for anything.”

Franks was named skipper for both matches, plus the warm-up clash against Sparta Prague beforehand too.

The International Challenge Trophy Group A clash with Slovakia ended in a 1-0 reverse and Franks then saw his side well beaten 4-2 by a young Hungary side a few days later.
