Former Town striker passes away

Former Hatters striker Ron Davies passed away on May 24, one day short of his 71st birthday.

Davies scored 275 goals in 540 League appearances during his career and signed for Town from Chester in October 1962.

He boasted a prodigious leap and great heading ability and was an instant success for the Hatters, scoring 21 goals in only 29 starts.

Three games into the following season he was sold to Norwich City for £35,000, before going on to become a Welsh international and play in Europe while with Southampton, eventually signing for Manchester United.
