The former England keeper joined up with Town on a voluntary basis in October as he works towards his coaching A licence.

And while he admits the ‘dream’ was always to play for Luton, he’s enjoying the opportunity to develop his skills under boss John Still.

He said: “The dream was playing. I seem to remember coming down with Watford to play an U15s or U14s game on the plastic pitch and Luton didn’t have a keeper so I went in goal for them.

“That’s the closest I got to playing here. I’d say it was a dream of playing one day, but it might be a little bit behind me now.”

The 43-year-old keeper, who played 53 times for England has finally got the chance to see Luton this season having not seen them live since their 1989 3-1 League Cup final defeat to Nottingham Forest.
