The 21-year-old has fallen out of favour at Peterborough United this term, making just three appearances, while spending a month with Northampton Town in November.

It would be Ferdinand’s first appearance in the Trophy, as he said: “I’d like to play in it. As a footballer, you’d like to play in every match, the more games the better.

“If I can get into the team and help, then it’s good for both parties isn’t it?”

After moving to Kenilworth Road on Friday, Ferdinand admitted it had been an easy place to settle into, with the club top of the league.

He continued: “The atmosphere in the dressing room as you’d expect is pretty good.

“They’re on a high at the moment and we just want to keep that, along with the unbeaten run, going for as long as we can.”

Ferdinand was handed his Town debut as a second half substitute during a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Lincoln City on Saturday.

The stalemate at Sincil Bank saw Hatters equal a club record 19 league games unbeaten and the midfielder felt it was a battling result.

He added: “It wasn’t the best conditions, but we dug in and you can’t play free-flowing football every game.

“So as long as you don’t lose the match, it’s a point gained rather than two dropped.”
