The 20-year-old, who made nine appearances for Luton earlier this season had been on Hatters’ radar during the transfer window as managing director Gary Sweet said in last week’s News/Gazette: “We’re probably looking for somebody with a little bit more experience than Connor as a priority.
That’s not to say we might not be interested in Connor Essam at some point anyway, he’s a terrific lad and a good player.”
But it was announced today that Essam had joined the Red Devils as manager Richie Barker told the club’s official websites: “We are delighted to have Connor at the club. He fits the template of players I want to work with. He is young with lots of potential and has a real appetite to learn and improve.
“Connor is coming here to get his career back on track. He is a great fit for this club.”
