Equaliser not enough for victory-hungry JJ

Cracking home his first goal for the Hatters in Friday night’s 2-1 victory at Hyde was a dream come true for youngster JJ O’Donnell – but even more impressive was his will to win as he immediately grabbed the ball and returned it to the centre circle as Luton looked for a winner, writes Mark Wood.

After missing a host of first half chances ex-Hatter Matthew Blinkhorn struck a fabulous goal on his debut to put the Tigers ahead 10 minutes into the second period, before O’Donnell equalised and Stuart Fleetwood thundered home a late winner as Town grabbed victory on their first-ever trip to Ewen Fields.

O’Donnell, who only made his first league start for the Hatters last week, said: “As you can see when I scored, I didn’t celebrate, I wanted to go and get the ball and go back to the centre circle because we wanted to get another one, we want to win games.”
