England boss has faith in Town duo

England C boss Paul Fairclough has every confidence Luton duo Simon Ainge and Andre Gray will rise to the occasion when they face Turkey B on Tuesday, February 5, writes Mark Wood.

The International Challenge Trophy semi-final will take place at Dartford FC’s Princes Park and Fairclough has seen enough of the pair to know he can rely on them after they helped the Three Lions to overcome Belgium 2-1 in October.

Gray came off the bench to score in that encounter, although more recently England C went down to a 4-0 defeat in Russia.

Fairclough said: “I’ve got great belief in Andre and Simon. This group that went out to Belgium in the last round, we needed to get a result there.

“I’ve kept the nucleus of those players together. I’ve still monitored their form but both Simon and Andre were really key members of that squad.

A delighted centre-half Ainge said: “I found out from a tweet and I’m delighted to get the call as I’ve enjoyed it the last three times I’ve been called up.

“It’s a big game playing Turkey at home and hopefully being involved in a winning team.”
