Dutchman must prove his fitness

EX-DUTCH international striker Romano Denneboom will have to prove his fitness if he is to secure a contract at Kenilworth Road, writes Mark Wood.

The 30-year-old striker has been on trial at Kenilworth Road for the last week and played just over 70 minutes in Luton Town’s reserves’ 4-1 win at Stevenage in the Totesport.com Combination Northern Section at Broadhall Way yesterday afternoon.

Denneboom, whose only cap came in the 2004 3-0 win over Lichtenstein, showed some nice touches without posing a potent threat.

Town boss Gary Brabin said: “I think you can see his quality, but at the same time you can see he is miles off fitness-wise.”
