Dutch international departs Luton

FORMER Dutch international Romano Denneboom has departed the Hatters after failing to win a contract during his trial spell, writes Mark Wood.

The 30-year-old striker had been on trial at Kenilworth Road for two weeks, but struggled to make an impact in Town’s friendly victory over Hitchin Town and their reserve win against Stevenage.

Although he showed a few nice touches in those games he failed to come to terms with the frenetic nature of English football.

On Denneboom, who won his one international cap in 2004 in the 3-0 win against Liechtenstein and has over 300 senior appearances to his name, Hatters assistant manager Alan Neilson said: “Romano’s gone back to Holland now. There’s nothing further.”
