Drury and Shaw remain on Hatters wishlist

HATTERS remain interested in both Conference top scorer Jon Shaw and former star midfielder Andy Drury as the January transfer window opened on Sunday, writes Mark Wood.

Championship side Ipswich invoked a clause in Drury’s contract to sign the midfield maestro for £150,000 last season, but he has struggled to nail down a place in the Tractor Boys side and recently moved to Crawley Town for a three-month loan spell.

Shaw has netted 19 league goals already this season and Town boss Gary Brabin said: “I know Paul Jewell really well and spoke to Dukes as well.

“At the moment Ipswich have called him back because he is back in their thoughts so I’m sure they won’t want to do anything just yet.

“With the forwards situation a lot’s been made of the Jon Shaw thing but we don’t want to keep dragging it on.

“I think it’s well documented we’ve shown an interest and like I keep saying we work really hard to find out about the character, everything about a player and make sure we get value for money as well.”
