An ankle injury to Paul Benson earned Cullen a recall and he repaid boss John Still’s faith with two second half goals, including the winner.

The 21-year-old also scored twice in the 4-0 win over Woking, and speaking on Saturday, said: “It’s always pleasing on a personal note to get off the mark with the goals.

“Benno scored in the week and had he been fit, I’m sure he would have started.

“But I think I’ve taken my opportunity, I got a chance to play and got two goals.”

Cullen has had a mixed start to his time at Kenilworth Road in front of goal.

After finishing as the leading scorer in pre-season, he failed to find the net in his first six matches, as he has been in and out of the side, but had no qualms about biding his time at Kenilworth Road.
