The 22-year-old scored 10 goals last season, including the late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Cambridge United and finished the campaign with three goals in his last five matches.

Cullen, who still had a year left to run on his contract after joining on a free from Hull City in the summer, will now be at Kenilworth Road until 2017.

Boss John Still told the club’s official website: “He’s the unluckiest striker in the league but we’ve recognised his talent with an extended deal.

“Mark has been a massive part of what we’ve achieved and we know that he’s going to be a big player for us going forward

“He’s proven that he can score goals, he has a terrific work-rate and he’s shown what a great team player he is.”
