Crow: The goals will come

HARD-WORKING striker Danny Crow knows the goals will come if he keeps putting the effort in, writes Mark Wood.

Two gilt-edged chances went begging in the 1-0 defeat of Stockport County on Tuesday evening, but he endeared himself to the Kenilworth Road faithful as he ran his socks off on the night.

Crow said: “I was tired, but towards the end of the game I fancied myself to score and disappointed I at least didn’t hit the target.

“Tyles (Mark Tyler) came up to me after the game and just said it wasn’t your day in front of goal.

“But at least I’m in those positions and it’s nice that everyone is chipping in with goals and it’s not one man.

“At the start of season Amari (Morgan-Smith) was the one scoring all the goals but it seems to be Jake (Howells) is scoring, I’m scoring, Azza’s (Aaron O’Connor) getting a few, Adam’s (Watkins) scoring and everyone is chipping in which is good for the manager.

“The main thing as always is the team keeps winning and if that means I have to work my hardest and don’t score, then I will do that.

“The main thing is for the team to win. We all want promotion, we are not selfish and will take 1-0s for the rest of the season.

“These are the games you’ve got to win to catch the top two up. I know Wrexham have two games in hand and Fleetwood won, but we’ve got the points on the board and Wrexham have still got to gain those points.

“We believe we can catch them and we’ve got to start proving it.

“It wasn’t the best performance but to win 1-0 is credit to the boys.”

Assistant manager Alan Neilson was also buoyed by Crow’s effort and is sure he will get his reward.

Neilson added: “We would be more upset if we didn’t get into those situations to miss those chances.

“Crowy will be disappointed to miss but his workrate for the team was absolutely fantastic.

“The fans saw it, he was closing balls down on the left-hand side, sprinting across and closing down on the right-hand side.

“We’ve got this work ethic in our team now where we want everyone to close and it’s working well.

“I said to Crowy after the game if he keeps on working like that his goals will come.”
