Committed Tyler had no desire to ever leave Kenilworth Road

Leaving Luton Town was never on goalkeeper Mark Tyler’s mind after he penned a new one-year deal at the club last week.

There had been rumours from some quarters that the 36-year-old would be looking for a coaching role, but that was pure speculation according to the man himself.

Now preparing for his fourth campaign at Kenilworth Road, Tyler is ready for success under new boss John Still, who handed him his debut while in charge of Peterborough.

He said: “It’s the fourth time this has happened, but there was no speculation, no contact, no nothing really.

“I don’t know who, but I’d like to meet the person who starts these rumours.

“I definitely didn’t want to go anywhere else.

“I’ve got no desire to leave Luton. It’s a special place for me now and hopefully we can get into the league and progress.

Apart from the former Posh custodian, it’s all change on the goalkeeping front at Town next season.

Number two and close friend of Tyler, Dean Brill, has been transfer-listed, Lewis Kidd released, while East Thurrock stopper Elliot Justham joined last week on a two-year deal.

But Tyler, who has now made 184 appearances for Town, believes that good times are just around the corner with Still at the held and confirmed he has no plans in place to retire any time soon.
