Comeback victory is a ‘sign of champions’

Victory at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday has given Luton Town the mark of ‘champions’ according to matchwinner Scott Rendell, writes Mark Wood.

Former Town target Yan Klukowski had given Rovers the lead after Dean Brill’s error, before Scott Rendell’s quick-thinking and Andre Gray’s pace led to Luton leveller.

Gray’s perseverance then led to Luton’s late penalty and Paul Green’s dismissal for two bookings and Rendell kept his cool from the spot to send Town’s 1,000-plus travelling army barmy.

He said: “I wasn’t here last year but I think they struggled more away from home more than we have this year and I don’t know the exact stats but I think we’ve been fantastic away from home, we’ve picked up a lot of points and that’s what you need to do when you wan to win leagues.

“You need to come to places like this on a cold October day and grind out a result like we did because that’s the sign of champions.”
