Charles could make return against Wrexham

Defender Anthony Charles could be fit enough to make his comeback for Hatters during their FA Trophy second round clash against Wrexham on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 32-year-old has made just four appearances this campaign, his last coming against Woking in the FA Cup on October 26.

Striker Jon Shaw won’t be available once more, while Alex Wall may have another chance to improve his match fitness as boss John Still said: “Jon Shaw no, Anthony Charles, maybe.

“We’ll see today and tomorrow with Charlo.

“For Alex Wall it will be another step into getting up to fitness, but he’s been doing all right.”

Neither Alex Lacey or Andy Parry will be fit enough to play though as Still continued: “They’re not going to be around for the next few games.

“Parry needs to have an op, we’ll get him in the next few days, so he won’t be available for the Christmas period.

“Lacey maybe the end of the Christmas period as he’s got a cut, but it’s right on the kicking part of your foot.

“He’s had some stitches in it, but he’ll be training probably over this weekend.

“It’s really difficult to do anything as when it’s the side of your foot you can get away it, but he’ll be okay.

“One of the reasons we brought the loans in was to make sure we had enough cover for any problems that arise and the funny thing is, next game things arise, so it worked out all right for us.”
