The 33-year-old is a free agent this summer and although he wants to have another crack at League Two with Hatters, Charles admitted being restricted to just four league appearances has harmed his chances.

On his future, he said: “Yes of course (I’d like to stay). I dropped out of the league to play, but I don’t think personally it will be happening as I haven’t been playing as much. To leave now is to leave on a high point.”

Although missing large chunks of the campaign due to a dislocated shoulder and other various ailments, Charles had no complaints about his lack of action with the club going on a 27-game unbeaten run and breaking a club record for clean sheets.
