Centre half remains top of Hatters’ wishlist

Although linked with another two wingers this week, Hatters have confirmed their main target during the transfer window remains a central defender, writes Mark Wood.

Managing director Gary Sweet told the News/Gazette: “Our primary focus is on bringing in a centre-half, as most people know.

“We are aiming quite high and we need a good quality centre-half to come in.

“We are confident we will get the man we want.”

Town have been linked with Fleetwood’s Nathan Pond who has been on loan at Grimsby, but manager Paul Buckle was tightlipped over potential signings as he added: “I never speak until I sign a player.”
