Carney: Town exit was my only option

Newman Carney has hit back at Luton Town after his contract was terminated last week, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 18-year-old, who had been at Kenilworth Road since the age of 12 and recently signed his first professional contract, parted company with the club on Wednesday.

A statement released by Town claimed they were left with no other option after Carney refused to ‘commit fully to playing and training for the club.’

The teenager, who was recently loaned out to Evo-Stik Southern League side Kettering, insisted he had tried to make things work though.
