Cambridge game is a must-not lose encounter for Hatters

Luton’s goalless draw at play-off hopefuls Salisbury City at the weekend moved them 15 points clear at the top of the Skrill Premier as the U’s went down to a 3-2 defeat at Forest Green Rovers.

And Gray knows the Hatters’ destiny is in their own hands, as he said: “I think as long as we keep picking up points and doing what we need to do then we haven’t got to worry about Cambridge and the rest of the team behind us.”

The outcome of Saturday’s games won’t affect the way Luton approach tonight’s game though, as he said: “It will be just the same as it would have been if we had played them today (Saturday).

“I think we’ve got a job to do, if we don’t win we’ve got to draw and try not to drop points against them and it will stand us in good stead for the last 11-12 games.”

And Gray believes Saturday’s point would have been a good one, no matter how the U’s got on.

He added: “It’s just the same really. I think even if they had won today (Saturday) it’s a good point as well, but we obviously want to win every game.

“We’re not going to win every game, but that’s how it is sometimes, and we’ve obviously gained a point and we’re just creeping away that little bit more and if we can do a job Tuesday as well I think it will just give us that little bit more of a push that we need.”
