Buckle: Town’s players have saved their careers

HATTERS boss Paul Buckle feels that some of the Town players have saved their careers since he took over at the club, writes Mike Simmonds.

A whole host of Luton’s squad are currently out of contract, with Danny Crow, Shane Blackett and Dan Gleeson released today.

Buckle still has decisions to make on the likes of Keith Keane, Alex Lawless and Jake Howells though, as he said: “Without a doubt, the players have got every day as a chance to impress me.

“I’ve got a chance to impress them and give as much as I can to them.

“My phone is on 24/7 for them if they need to ring me.

“Every club I’ve managed and every player I’ve coached I’ve given my all to them.

“That’s the way I see the job, so I expect to get it back.

“It’s the minimum I expect from the players, and all the time they do that, they’ve got a great chance of staying at a brilliant club.

“I feel a bond with the players now, they understand where I’m coming from.

“I’m not some taskmaster that’s coming in who’s having a go all the time, but I’ve got standards and expect high standards all the time throughout the club.”
