Buckle impressed by Carney and Kidd

YOUNGSTER Newman Carney made his long-awaited return from injury when he played the final 10 minutes for Town’s U18s at the weekend, writes Mike Simmonds.

Carney, 18, has been out for six months after breaking his leg and new boss Paul Buckle said: “I went up to the Centres of Excellence the other night and watched them train.

“He’s a fantastic prospect and it’s good that he’s back.

“We want the young players to come through and all the youngsters will have a chance here.”

Buckle was also pleased with the progress that young goalkeeper Lewis Kidd was making as he added: “I was really impressed with him. I think Dimi (Kharine) is doing a great job with the goalkeepers.

“It’s important that anyone in the buillding as a player feels they’ve got a chance. There’s nothing worse than being in the building when you know you’re not going to play.”
