Buckle hoping to add another defender after Barrow shock

Hatters boss Paul Buckle is hopeful of adding another centre half to his squad despite the transfer window shutting on Thursday night, writes Mike Simmonds.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat at Barrow this afternoon, in which deadline day addition centre half Steve McNulty made his debut, he said: “There’s maybe one more coming in that’s a free agent. He’s a centre half and I’m very hopeful of that.

“I’m looking to have two in the middle that are faultless and can just do the basics.

“If we do the basics we’ve always got a chance but as you saw today, we weren’t able to deal with a ball up and its cost us and that’s been the theme all season.”

Hungarian Janos Kovacs missed out and speaking about the decision to drop the defender, Buckle added: “He’s been left out.

“I was happy with what Steve McNulty did on his debut.”
