Buckle has his eyes on a Premier League tie

Hatters boss Paul Buckle has set his sights on a Premier League club in this afternoon’s FA Cup third round draw, writes Mike Simmonds.

Town edged past Dorchester Town 2-1 at Kenilworth Road yesterday and are now ball number 51 when the draw takes place at around 2.40pm live on ITV.

When asked who he would like, Buckle said: “A Premiership club, and then we can be on our way, concentrate on the league and make the club some money.

“It’s the luck of the draw. The biggest thing for me was that we made our own luck. The players can take all the plaudits for the performance.

“We had to dig in near the end, you have to do that in the FA Cup.

“You never get an easy game whether you’re against higher opposition or lower opposition, so we’re thoroughly delighted to be in the third round.”

It was far from plain sailing for Town, particularly late on as they had to deal with an onslaught from their Blue Square Bet South opponents with keeper Marl Tyler in stunning form.

Buckle added: “Being in the FA Cup as a manager is nice as you get a bit of breathing space. We certainly didn’t have any in the last 15 minute so I’ll take some now.

“It’s always difficult, home and away games for Luton Town are really difficult, teams really do try against us.

“I thought Dorchester gave it a right go in the end but they found a resilient Luton Town.

“This is where we’ve got to go, we know we can score goals, but we’ve got to keep doing the nasty side of it.”
