Buckle expecting a quiet transfer deadline day

Hatters boss Paul Buckle isn’t expecting to do any business in the transfer market before the deadline closes tomorrow evening, writes Mike Simmonds.

The manager had intimated he might be forced to act due to an injury to defender Janos Kovacs, but the Hungarian’s return in training, plus the performance of Dean Beckwith at Ebbsfleet on Monday, has gone some way to changing Buckle’s mind.

A loan deal after the window shuts wasn’t ruled out though as Buckle said: “There’ll be nothing happening, it doesn’t mean we’re not going to do something loan wise, but certainly no transfers.

“I think the pictures changes on a regular basis earlier in the season because the games come think and fast and we’re still looking at the squad.

“Certainly the last few games we looked very good, there’s no need for me to bring anyone in with Kovacs coming back now while Beckwith has come in and done great.

“It’s too rushed (the deadline), just before the game on Saturday and I don’t want to take my eye off it by looking at players. It gives me a lot of pleasure bringing a youth player in to be honest with you.”
