Buckle dismay as Hatters tie is called off

Luton Town boss Paul Buckle was left frustrated as his side’s FA Trophy first round tie at Dorchester Town was called off this afternoon due to a waterlogged pitch.

The playing surface had been passed fit after an early pitch inspection, but at around 12.30pm, referee Brett Huxtable made the decision not to go ahead.

Buckle said: “It’s disappointing but we are not in control of the weather. We wanted the game to be played but if the conditions are that bad then nobody wants to risk it.”

A statement on the Magpies official website said: “After a third pitch inspection the referee has deemed the pitch as unplayable.

“Therefore the match against Luton Town has had to be postponed. Dorchester Town Football Club apologise to those adversely affected for this late decision.”

The two teams, who are both in the hat for Monday’s second round draw, will attempt to replay the game this Tuesday, with a 7.45pm kick off.

It will mean both clubs will find out the second round opposition as the draw takes place on Monday.
