Buckle aware of areas he needs to strengthen

Town boss Paul Buckle knows just where he needs to improve his squad as the transfer deadline looms ever closer, writes Mike Simmonds.

After Luton were convincingly beaten by Grimsby in the FA Trophy on Tuesday night, Buckle, who has until tomorrow evening to make signings, said: “We need to add and I know exactly where we need to add.

“The squad needs some help now. It’s a critical time of season. I felt that our defence, especially when (Richard) Brodie came on, we need to be stronger in that middle.

“That’s my job to do that in the window. I think we’ve generated quite a lot of money through the FA Cup, so hopefully we can bring the right players in.”

The boss is going to be up against it though, as preparation for Saturday’s Blue Square Bet Premier trip to Barrow will take precedence as he added: “There are going to be deals in between games. I’ve got Wednesday to be on the phone and we’re back in training Thursday.

“We’ve got a really important league game Saturday, so we’ll try to get deals done between that.”
