Brill confident of making Luton return

GOALKEEPER Dean Brill is confident of becoming a permanent Luton Town player for the second time in his career, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Kenilworth Road making almost 100 appearances before leaving in 2009 when he joined Oldham Athletic and then Barnet.

Brill was released by the Bees in the summer and has since played in three of Town’s pre-season friendlies now, including 90 minutes against Dunstable Town on Thursday night, where he was captain.

Speaking to the press afterwards, he revealed a contract was being thrashed out to return to the club.

He said: “Yes, there is a deal and yes, it is getting sorted out.

“It’s just these things take time, I’m hopeful to get it done. I’ve played 80 or 90 times for them and hope to add more to that.”

Assistant boss Alan Neilson continued: “He loves Luton and left last time because of the financial situation. It would be great if we can get the deal sorted out.

“He’s got loads of league experience. I don’t know how many games he played for Barnet, but the last game of the season I think he pulled off some good saves to keep them in the league.”

Brill will be hoping to be part of the Town side that takes on Championship side Ipswich Town this afternoon, and is expecting the Tractor Boys to be stern opposition.

He added: “It’s always going to be a good test against a Championship side. I haven’t really seen their results, but I think the boys did well the other night.

“We’re going in the right direction and I see no reason why we can’t have a good go at it on Saturday.”
