Brabin: We’ve moved on from Barnes-Homer

TOWN boss Gary Brabin decided to release striker Matthew Barnes-Homer after admitting the forward was never in his plans this season, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 25-year-old, who signed for the club from Kidderminster Harriers in 2009, had his contract terminated by mutual consent on Sunday.

After finishing as top scorer last campaign with 19 goals, Barnes-Homer made just one appearance this season before being loaned out to League One Rochdale.

Brabin said: “I had lengthy discussions with Matthew and just felt from the beginning of the season that it wasn’t going to work out.

“That’s why we decided to loan him to Rochdale. He really needed to make an impact, that wasn’t the case and I just feel we’ve moved on from Matthew Barnes-Homer now.

“Good luck to Matthew, I still believe he’s got ability but we want players who I can hang my hat on and I know I’m going to get 100 per cent from each game every game.”
