Brabin felt Town deserved win at Harriers

HATTERS boss Gary Brabin thought his side deserved to pick up only their second away win of the campaign at Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

A brace in either half from Robbie Willmott was enough for Luton to move up to fifth in the table, although they had to withstand a late spell of pressure from the hosts when Tom Sharpe netted in the closing stages.

Brabin was able to field both George Pilkington and Shane Blackett for the first time this season too, as he said: “I thought it was a good performance from two good sides. I thought we certainly deserved the win, they were a good side and made it difficult for us.

“George Pilkington and Shane Blackett have come back and we’ve scored goals and got three points too.”

Harriers boss Steve Burr added: “First half we didn’t do enough to threaten Luton and there wasn’t enough people influencing the game from our point of view.

“Second half we did a lot better, we could have got something out of it at the end but it just didn’t happen for us.

“From our point of view the two goals are disappointing, but once they got in, they just showed that extra bit of quality that Luton had to get the win.

“You see the likes of Stuart Fleetwood coming off the bench for Luton, who is a quality player and will get goals, as well as the likes of Robbie Willmott and Amari Morgan-Smith, who are also quality players, and you realise they have good strength in depth. Those types of players cost money.”
