Brabin delighted as Town swiftly bounce back to winning ways

HATTERS manager Gary Brabin was delighted with his side for bouncing back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Grimsby Town on Friday night, writes Mike Simmonds.

Tommy Wright’s 73rd minute strike was enough on the night as Hatters made sure they quickly got over the defeat to league leaders Wrexham in midweek.

Brabin said: “I’m delighted with the performance and thought it was a thoroughly deserved win.

“I thought it was important we bounced back from the disappointment of Tuesday night. I said to the lads I wanted us to be a bit braver and play on the front foot and I thought we did that.”

Hatters changed from their 4-3-3 formation, to a more conventional 4-4-2, with Wright making his full debut alongside Stuart Fleetwood and the pair combined for the winner.

Brabin added: “I think we have to be a little bit more unpredictable. 4-3-3 has worked for us in games where we’ve had some fantastic results. I’m not adverse to 4-4-2 as well.

“It’s well documented we’ve got a few injuries, to Keith Keane too, but we we’ve got some really food footballers at the club.

“They (Grimsby) played 4-4-2 , we played 4-4-2, and it worked.”
