Brabin bemoans defensive errors

HATTERS boss Gary Brabin was a frustrated figure after Town conceded a last minute goal to draw 1-1 at Stockport County on Friday night, writes Mike Simmonds.

With time running out, Luton were leading 1-1 through Alex Lawless’ early long-range blast. It looked like they were going to hold on for their first away win of the season and clean sheet, but a mistake by Curtis Osano gifted possession to County, who broke away to score with a cruelly deflected effort.

Brabin said: “I’m just gutted because the goals we’re conceding at the moment, it’s been like that since the start of the season.

“It would be easy to hide behind the excuses of the injuries, but we’ve got a good squad of players and I know they are good enough to do what we want.

“In the the past we’ve always been quite rock solid at the back but at the moment we’re making mistakes and getting punished for it.

“I felt confident with the side we have, as a back four we’ve got some good players that are better then the goals we’re conceding at the moment.”

After County levelled, Luton almost snatched a winner when new signing Stuart Fleetwood arrowed a drive against the post, but even that wouldn’t have lifted Brabin’s mood.

The boss added: “I thought we should have killed the game off but we haven’t and even if that one Stuart Fleetwood hit the post last minute had gone in, I still would have probably been as disappointed because of the goal we conceded.”
