Brabin acknowledges he knew the pressures when he took the job

Luton’s fans made their annoyance clear as they booed after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Grimsby and Brabin admitted he knew he could be faced with such a situation when he took the role.

He said: “Before I took the job I knew that was part and parcel of the job.

“I think it’s the one position where everybody’s an expert on your job in football management.

“I do it myself. You look at England and we’ve all got opinions and it’s true.

“When you are passionate about something, like supports are about this club, they want to be heard and want to put their point across.

“That is part and parcel of football. I totally understand that and I’m going to carry the can when things aren’t great.

“I want to be judged at the end of the season. We have a real good bunch of lads here.

“We’ve been through a lot this season. We are really looking forward to these last few games and there’s still a belief here in the group that we can achieve our goal.”

With Town slipping out of the play-offs for the first time since December, former Hatters star and manager Lil Fuccillo has been appointed to the board as technical director.

And far from being worried by the appointment, Brabin once again welcomed the move at Thursday’s press conference.

He added: “I think if anything it’s helped. You look at the scale of things at any football club.

“The supporters are the heartbeat of every club. Then you’ve got a board of directors who have to make decisions that effect the club.

“Then you’ve got the manager and a management team who they pick and choose the team. It’s their job to get things right on the pitch.

“Then you’ve got the players who at the end of the day that the supporters from the very top are coming to watch.

“And I think it’s a process that is really important. I think the board are supporters.

“They love the club, the club is a real passion and they feel every emotion the supporters do and they are really very good people and I think they are honest enough to admit that they probably need a bit of help from a football perspective.

“Lil’s a friend of one or two of the people on the board and he’s been invited in to give them some help and input from a footballing point of view.

“I think that can only be healthy for the club.”
