Bobbers endure hellish away day

Luton fans travelling with the Bobbers Supporters Club had the journey from hell on Friday night as they endured a six-hour commute to Grimsby, only to miss the first half as the Hatters eventually capitulated 4-1, writes Mark Wood.

Accidents, congestion and a coach driver working his maximum number of hours all contributed to a wretched night where even a dearth of taxis meant they were unable to reach the game on time, finally getting to Blundell Park at half time after leaving Luton at 2.45pm.

Eventually they were forced to give up on the taxi idea and, after watching a live stream of the game on one person’s mobile phone, the coach finally reached the ground at half time with Town 3-0 down.

Supporters were still charged £8 to get in, in contrast to the free entry and pie Eastbourne fans were given when they arrived late for a game they were losing at Kenilworth Road.

Sorry Bobbers have offered each of those affected £10 off their next fare, and the club have also tried to compensate them.
