Blocked moves were a frustration for departing Dance

Now searching for a new club for next term after spending the tail-end of last season on loan at Nuneaton Town, he admitted there had been missed chances to have played more.

Dance said: “Because I didn’t leave during the January window I think I knew then there would come a time I would be leaving at the end of the season.

“My annoyance was not being able to leave earlier in January.

“There were a few other clubs in for me but I wasn’t allowed to go to another club challenging for promotion.

“I kind of knew then come the end of the season. Obviously when Paul Buckle left the writing was on the wall.

“It was just bad timing for me. If he had stayed at least he has seen me in training as I didn’t want me to leave permanently.”

Dance admitted Nuneaton had been particularly helpful in helping him to nurse his way back as he continued: “I had two spells there. The first month was trying to get my fitness up and play as much as possible.

“They were good with me and allowed me to ease myself back into it rather than having to rush and try and impress Luton for a new deal.”

On his options for next season, he added: “I’ve had a few initial chats with clubs in the Conference. I’m hoping it will be sort in the next week or two, but until then there’s not a lot to report.

“That’s partly why I wasn’t rushing to play during the second spell at Nuneaton.

“Clubs will take me on what I’ve done before rather than the last six or seven games of the season and hopefully there will be more to report in the next couple of weeks.”
