Blackett playing for a new contract

FIT-AGAIN defender Shane Blackett is fully aware just how important it is that he can remain fit until the end of the season, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 29-year-old, who has made just 12 appearances in the last two seasons for Town, is out of contract in the summer and would love to earn another deal at Kenilworth Road.

He said: “A lot of lads are in the same situation, playing for the shirt and contract.

“Hopefully, I can stay fit and keep playing how I want to play and that will be enough to earn me a new contract.”
