Blackett left frustrated by unfinished business at Luton

IT was with a heavy heart that defender Shane Blackett left Kenilworth Road last week, as defeat in the play-off final to York City meant he departed with a frustrating sense of unfinished business, writes Mike Simmonds

The 29-year-old signed for Luton in July 2009, after they had been relegated to the Conference, and had hoped he would play a major part in their rise through the leagues once more.

Blackett said: “I feel like it’s unfinished business. I came here with the aim to get the club back in the Football League and have not been able to do that three years on the trot.

“The two or three year target was to get Luton back in the League and not just back into the League, but pushing to get back into League One.

“Playing for Luton was an honour for me and I’ll always cherish the experience for the rest of my life.”
