Blackett hoping to earn a new deal at Kenilworth Road

TOWN defender Shane Blackett is determined to win a new deal at the club when his contract ends this summer, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 29-year has made 51 appearances for Luton, but just 12 this season as he has spent large chunks of the campaign out injured.

Now fully fit though, Blackett, who scored in the Beds Senior Cup victory last night, has been on the bench for all of new manager Paul Buckle’s games in charge but appreciates it isn’t just his future at stake this summer.

He said: “There are quite a few of us, 11 or 12, who are out of contract.

“Myself, I’d love to stay here. It’s my club and I’m working hard to try and make that happen. It’s out of my hands but we’ll see.”
