Blackett emotional at his Hatters return

TOWN’s hard-working victory at Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday was an emotional affair for defender Shane Blackett, writes Mike Simmonds.

For it was almost a year to the day that the 29-year-old had completed 90 minutes in a Luton shirt, and that evening ended in a 2-1 home defeat to Crawley Town.

Although Blackett had played the entirety of Hatters’ friendly clash with St Neots last Tuesday night, not many had expected him to feature at Aggborough, so it was something of a surprise when he took his place in the starting line-up.

He said: “I played half a game at Wycombe and a full game at St Neots and I thought I’d maybe get another week (training). But the gaffer called me up and I said I’d love to play, it’s what I love doing.”
