Bids rejected by unimpressed Hatters

UNPROFESSIONAL Forest Green Rovers have been slammed for a spurious bid for star Luton winger Robbie Willmott, while Stevenage have had two bids knocked back for Hatters captain Keith Keane, writes Mark Wood.

Town only signed talented 21-year-old winger Willmott from Cambridge United last season and have no intention of selling one of their prized assets.

On Rovers’ bid, incredulous managing director Gary Sweet said: “No story. We’re not selling Robbie. I initially thought their offer had been mistyped until I realised they were being serious.

“It’s disappointing to see some clubs act so unprofessionally by making public announcements at the same time as making a bid for a player.”
