Benson heaps praise on Town’s delivery as Smith backs him to keep scoring
The veteran striker made it 3-1 seconds after the break with a thumping header from Shaun Whalley’s free-kick.
His second arrived soon after when Andre Gray broke down the right and unselfishly squared for him to score.

But he missed out on a great opportunity to score his first Hatters hat-trick when he saw an 80th-minute effort squirm agonisingly wide from Whalley’s cross.
Former Swindon Town team-mate Jonathan Smith backed four-goal Benson to keep on scoring for the Hatters, saying: “Paul Benson he’ll score goals for fun for this club because I was with him at Swindon, and he’s an absolute top player and I can’t speak highly enough of him.
“He’s such a good player and he got us two vital goals again. I think people can underestimate his second goal, he just slotted it in like it’s easy for him.
“He’s such a good player and he’ll do really well for us.”
