Benson happy to back Howells and avoid any memories of Howard and Nicholls

Debutant Paul Benson admitted he didn’t know who Town’s designated penalty taker was in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Kidderminster Harriers, writes Mark Wood.

But he was happy for Jake Howells to step up and avoid any tussle over the ball a la Steve Howard and Kevin Nicholls at York in 2001-02.

He said: “I looked over and I wasn’t sure who the penalty take was to be honest. But Howellsy looked like he was confident and he looked like he wanted it so I wasn’t going to stand in his way.”
