Belford backs his Tamworth side to cause Hatters ‘upset’

Tamworth boss Dale Belford is hoping his side can cause an ‘upset’ this weekend when they take of Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Having earned a draw there last season he believes his side can again get a result.

He said: “While I respect them, we will certainly be going out this weekend to have a go and hopefully we can cause an upset.”

Belford praised the appointment of boss John Still and, although he thinks Grimsby Town will push them close, he backed Town to win the title.

He added: “Luton are a very big club, with big resources and a massive fan-base for this level.

“I think, for them, the key thing was in recruiting John Still, who is a great bloke.

“The experience he has brought to them was just what Luton needed.

“He has got them playing some exciting football and, having seen all the teams at the top, I believe they will go on and win the league.

“Certainly, any team that finishes above them this season will be crowned the champions.

“But I can’t see anyone doing that. Maybe Grimsby Town might still push them all the way.

“Personally I don’t think Cambridge United will.

“Fair play to Luton if they win the title because I think they are a club that deserve to be in the Football League.”
