Bees pleased with Mawson’s development

Brentford academy director Ose Aibangee felt young defender Alfie Mawson’s loan stay at Kenilworth Road had been a productive one, writes Mike Simmonds.

Although the 19-year-old played just 45 minutes for Town during a 5-0 win at Alfreton Town, in which he had to go off injured, Aibangee thought it had been a worthwhile experience for Mawson.

He told the Bees’ official website: “Alfie has been around the starting XI at Luton and has trained in a high pressure professional environment, preparing for matches at a good standard.

“He has had the added factor of being at a club pushing for promotion back to the Football League and preparing for games where there is a lot at stake.

“He has had more experience outside of Brentford FC, which can only assist him.

“We welcome him back to our development squad group and will look at how this experience has helped him.”
