Beckwith’s return spoiled by Fleet’s late consolation

A late Ebbsfleet consolation took the gloss off Town’s fine 3-1 victory at Stonebridge Road on Bank Holiday Monday according to returning centre-half Dean Beckwith, writes Mark Wood.

With skipper Ronnie Henry suspended, the 28-year-old was plunged into the starting XI for a league game for the first time in almost a year.

While delighted to help the Hatters to victory thanks to Stuart Fleetwood’s double and Scott Rendell’s first Luton goal, he could have done without ex-Town trialist Nathan Elder’s consolation.

Beckwith said: “It’s ruined the day really. I thought the whole team, but especially from my point of view the back four and Tyles (Mark Tyler), were magnificent, we cleared everything.”
